Spargers

Sparging and Gas-Liquid contacting applications utilize gas flowing through a network of fine pores to produce small uniform bubbles that result in high efficiency contact between a gas and a liquid. Normally, 0.5, 2 or 10 Micron Grade porous sintered metal materials are used to produce fine bubbles while preventing the flow of liquid from penetrating back into the pores at lower internal pressures.

Porous metal spargers are excellent replacements for pipe with a series of drilled holes. Drilled holes produce larger bubbles which do not dissolve and react as well with the liquid when compared to the finer bubbles generated by porous metals. Porous Sintered metal tube assemblies are used as Spargers, Carbonators, Bubblers and Aerators. The Porous Metal tube assemblies are custom engineered to agitate liquids in large tanks or pipelines, to add controlled amounts of gases to beverages and chemical processes and to improve heat transfer. Other chemical processes such as hydrogenation, bioremediation, fermentation, and pH control use fine porous metal spargers or bubblers to enhance chemical reactions. Porous sintered metal carbonators are also widely used in the food and beverage industry.
